Transfer Durak: rules for passing an attack
Transfer Durak gives the defender a third choice. Instead of covering the attack or picking it up, they may play the same rank and pass the attack to the next player.
How a transfer works
If a seven is played against you, you may add another seven. The next player must now defend against both cards. Suit does not matter, so a trump seven is a legal transfer too.
A transfer is available only against the opening attack, before defense has started. Once the first card is covered or throw-in cards have been added, the attack can no longer be transferred.
When a transfer is blocked
The new defender must hold enough cards for the full attack. If three attack cards are already on the table and the next player holds only two, the transfer is not legal. The transfer card must also match the attack rank.
Practical choices
A pair gives you a chance to throw in or to escape a defense. Spending a high trump on a transfer is not always worth it, though. Covering with an ordinary card may leave the trump available for the endgame.
With three or more players, a chain may pass through several seats. Before transferring, check the next defender's hand size and whether the attack could come around to you again.
Everything else follows the standard Durak rules. Choose Classic mode if you prefer a game without transfers.
Frequently asked questions
How many transfers can happen in a row?
Transfers may continue while players have the matching rank and the next defender holds enough cards to receive the full attack.
Can you transfer a thrown-in card?
No. Transfers are only legal against the first attack card. Once the defense has begun and additional cards are thrown in, transfers are no longer permitted.
How is Transfer Durak different from Classic?
In Classic mode, the defender covers the attack or picks it up. Transfer mode also allows a matching rank to pass the attack to the next player.
How do I play Transfer Durak online?
Choose Transfer mode in the lobby, then create a table or join an available room. To transfer the opening attack, play a card of the same rank before defense begins.
