Team Durak: 2v2 Rules
Team mode is Durak for four players split into two pairs. It is the most social and strategically deep variant: victory depends not only on your hand, but on how well you and your partner coordinate attacks and defense.
Player Arrangement
Four players sit around the table clockwise. Teams are formed along the diagonal:
- Team A — seats 0 and 2 (sitting opposite each other).
- Team B — seats 1 and 3 (sitting opposite each other).
This diagonal arrangement is no accident: after a Team A attacker plays, a Team B opponent defends, creating a natural turn rhythm.
Team Rules
Partners Attack Together
When your partner attacks, you automatically become a thrower. You may throw in cards of any rank already on the table. This gives teams a powerful tool — a double-pronged assault on a single defender.
No Talking to Your Partner
Voice and chat hints are forbidden. Coordination is only possible through gameplay itself: card choice, throwing order, trump usage. Experienced pairs develop non-verbal signals — such as throw-in timing.
Winning Conditions
A team wins when both of its players have shed all cards. If one partner has finished but the other is still playing, the team remains in the game. The match ends when one team has both players card-free.
What if a Partner Becomes the «Fool»?
The team whose player is the last one holding cards loses the match. A draw is possible if both losing-team players hold the same number of cards.
Strategies for Team Durak
Coordinate Suits with Your Partner
If you notice your partner discarding mostly spades, hold on to your spades for throw-ins. The more same-suit cards on the table, the harder for the defender to beat them all.
Save Trumps for Your Partner
If your partner appears to be short on a particular trump, hold yours for critical rounds. Sacrifice ordinary cards so your partner can pull off a decisive defense.
Attack the Weak Defender
When an opposing team member has a short hand or few trumps, unleash a joint attack: one of you plays the lead card, the other throws in the maximum, forcing the defender to pick up.
Count Your Team's Cards
Remember that your partner also needs to shed cards. If their turn is running out, give them room to discard — attack lightly and throw in less.
Play the Sacrifice
Sometimes the right move is to let your partner pick up cards so both of you survive a long match. Team Durak is about the joint result, not individual flair.

Can teams be reshuffled between matches?
Yes — when creating a new room, you can reassign seats. Within a single match, team composition is fixed.
What if my partner disconnects?
Players have a reconnect budget (45 seconds). If they don't return in time, the team automatically forfeits. A stable connection matters most in team mode.
Does transfer work in team mode?
Yes, if the room is configured for «Team Transfer». You cannot transfer to your own partner — that would route the attack past normal rules, which is forbidden.
