Durak for two players: head-to-head rules

Author: Published: Updated:

In a head-to-head game, there are no other players throwing in. Every decision and every unknown card belongs to one opponent, which makes card tracking easier.

Duel rules

Each player receives six cards and the next card sets the trump. The attacker leads a card, and the defender covers it with a higher card of the same suit or a trump. After a response, the attacker may add ranks already shown on the table.

After a successful defense, the defender attacks next. After picking up, they miss that attack. Both players draw back up to six while the stock lasts.

What changes with only two players

No third player can add an unexpected card. At the same time, every card your opponent picks up reveals something about their hand. Counting the nine trumps in a 36-card deck is especially useful.

Pairs are convenient for extending an attack, but you do not have to play both at once. Leading one card may test the defense while preserving the other for the next turn.

Creating a two-player table

Choose two players and either Classic or Transfer mode when creating a room. Use a private room to play with a friend. The Durak rules cover the full turn sequence.
